Our Story

The Brides Project (TBP) opened in September 2011. TBP is a fundraising initiative of the Cancer Support Community. This unique project is staffed by volunteers and dedicated to raising funds for free programs for families impacted by cancer at the Cancer Support Community (CSC) of Greater Ann Arbor through the sale of donated bridal gowns. Once-worn gowns donated by brides or unsold gowns donated by bridal shops are available for brides-to-be to purchase at a considerable savings. All profits from the sale of the gowns go to the CSC to support programs and services for people touched by cancer.

Our inspiration to start this project came to us from Helen Sweet, who started The Brides Project in Canada. She graciously allowed us to take this idea to the United States. If you are a bride in Canada, please visit her website www.thebridesproject.com.

Our salon is located at 1677 Plymouth Road in Ann Arbor.  We have collected hundreds of beautiful bridal gowns in a variety of styles, thanks to the generosity of many brides, bridal designers, and bridal salon owners. These socially conscious men and women wanted to make a difference and in the lives of individuals who have been touched by cancer. Thanks to their generous donations, we are able to sell our gowns at deeply discounted prices.

Our expert volunteer bridal consultants will make you feel right at home, comfortable, and relaxed, and will work with you to find just the dress for you.

By purchasing a wedding gown at The Brides Project you:

  • Help people diagnosed with cancer receive much-needed services to improve their quality of life
  • Help the loved ones of those with cancer receive support and education
  • Reduce your impact on the environment
  • Get a beautiful gown at a very reasonable price

We would love for you to come and see our beautiful bridal gown selection. Please make an appointment to view our selection.

Please note: The Brides Project has a no-returns and no-exchanges policy.  All sales are final.
